The Monastery of Novy Dvur was a project undertaken by John Pawson in the Czech Republic '99-'04. Oddly enough, the monks had seen the Calvin Klein flagship store, thought the architecture was wasted on clothes, and decided to find the architect to have him/her design a new Cistercian monastery. His use of light within the (chapel?) space is quite amazing and has inspired much of my own thoughts on lighting with lightwells to achieve "spiritual" affects. (You may have seen my model)
But definitely check this out if you want to see some powerful light images with just plain white light. They "set the mood" so to speak. Also his redesign of some of the cloister within the complex is elegantly simple and minimal.
